Deploy Microsoft IIS 6.0 plugin for OEM Grid Control 10g

Summary
These instructions describe how to deploy the OEM Grid Control plugin for Microsoft IIS 6.0.

Prerequisites
The following is required:
  • WMI for SQL Server 2000
  • ms_iis_plugin.jar

  • Details
    1. Perform the following on the server running Microsoft IIS 6.0.

    Install Windows Management Instrumentation:
         a. The WMI for SQL Server 2000 is located in <cd_drive>/x86/other/wmi
         b. Run setup.exe

    Confirm that the "Windows Management Instrumentation" service is running:
         a. Go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services
         b. Confirm that Windows Management Instrumentation is running

    2. Log on to the OEM Grid Console and perform the following.

    Ensure that Preferred Credentials are set for both the Agent and the Host:
         a. Go to Preferences -> Preferred Credentials
         b. Click on Set Credentials beside Agent, and set and save credentials
         c. Click on Set Credentials beside Host, and set and save credentials

    Deploy the IIS 6.0 plugin to OEM:
         a. Go to Setup -> Management Plug-ins -> Import -> Browse
         b. Locate ms_iis_plugin.jar on your local computer
         c. Click on List Archive
         d. Check the plug-in and click on OK
         e. Click on the Deploy button beside the plug-in
         f. Click Add Agents and choose the Agent
         g. Click Next -> Finish

    Add the IIS 6.0 target:
         a. Go to Setup -> Agents
         b. Click on the applicable Agent
         c. Add a Microsoft IIS 6.0 target
         d. Use the following values:
          Name:            <any unique name>
          Host:            <fully qualified hostname>
          Username:        administrator  (if using 'administrator' account)
          Password:        <password>
          Agent location:  local
    

    Troubleshooting:

    If setting Preferred Credentials fails:
         a. If OEM GC is not accepting the password, then on the server running SQL Server, try checking the following:
         b. Go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Local Security Settings
         c. Expand Local Policies
         d. Click on User Rights Assignment
         e. Make sure the operating system user is located in the following:
             - "Log on as a batch job" <- required
             - "Act as part of the operating system"
             - "Replace a process level token"

    Applicable Versions
    Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control (10.2.0.3)
    Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) 6.0
