Clearing the OEM 10g Grid Control Agent

Summary
When wanting to verify that the Agent is functioning or if you are receiving collection errors, it is often beneficial to clear the Agent and test.

Sometimes, a bad or malformed XML file generated by the Agent can halt all subsequent uploads.

Details
1. Clear the Agent:
emctl stop agent
cd $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd
rm -f agntstmp.txt lastupld.xml protocol.ini
rm -rf state/*
rm -rf upload/*
emctl clearstate agent

2. If you are using SSL for communication between the Agent and OMS, resecure the Agent:
emctl secure agent

3. Restart the Agent, perform a manual upload, and check the status:
emctl start agent
emctl upload
emctl status agent

The upload should not return any errors and observe how many megabytes of XML files have been uploaded.
