Enabling Web Conferencing 9i on Windows Vista and IE 7

Summary
The security permissions under Windows Vista does not allow the installation of the Oracle Web Conferencing Console. These instructions describe a workaround.

NOTE: This is an unsupported configuration.
RISK: By relaxing the security on Internet Explorer using the instructions above, you are putting your computer at serious risk.

Details
1. Create the following folder on your computer:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Oracle\RTC Client\3.0.1.391\en

    This may require you to first manually create each folder and its subfolder:
        a. Navigate to c:\Program Files\Common Files
        b. Create the folder Oracle
        c. Double-click on Oracle
        d. Create the folder RTC Client
        e. Double-click on RTC Client
        f. Create the folder 3.0.1.391
        g. Double-click on 3.0.1.391
        h. Create the folder en

2. Download the following file to your desktop:
    https://<your_web_conference_server_url>/imtapp/res/jar/cnsconf_en.cab

3. Extract the contents of the file cnsconf_en.cab to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Oracle\RTC Client\3.0.1.391\en

    One way to do this is by right-clicking the filename, and choosing Winzip -> Extract to..., and specifying the folder above.

4. Open Internet Explorer, and do the following:
    a. Click on Tools
    b. Click on Security
    c. Uncheck Enable Protected Mode
    d. Click on Custom Level
    e. Choose Enable for all options under ActiveX, then click on OK
    f. Click on OK

5. Close Internet Explorer.

6. Navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Oracle\RTC Client\3.0.1.391\en

7. Double-click on cnsconf.exe then click on the Close button when it appears.

8. Open Internet Explorer, log on to ROCS, and start a Web Conference normally.
Web Conferencing should now work normally from this point forward.
